Good contact on the memory would bend the pcb enough that I would get bad mounting pressure on the vrm's, and adding just 0.2mm pads to the vrm's would bend the pcb more causing bad mounting pressure on the memory. I had pads as thin as 0.2mm, and I wasn't able to get good contact on the memory and vrm's at the same time on that one side.
